Dave D.

Dave D. has extensive work experience in various industries and roles.

Starting in 2006, they worked as a Personal Care Assistant in the UC Berkeley Work-Study Program until 2007. In 2007, they were a Project Implementer for Big Ideas @ Berkeley, where they were awarded $2000 to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable populations in rural Uganda.

From 2008 to 2008, Dave worked as a Microbiology Research Lab Technician at USDA in Albany, CA. During the same year, they also served as a Sponsored Projects for Undergraduate Research Program (SPUR) Project Implementer in the UC Berkeley College of Natural Resources.

In 2009, Dave became a Strauss Scholar for the Donald A. Strauss Public Service Scholarship Foundation. Dave received $10,000 to start a business providing safe drinking water storage in rural Uganda. Dave successfully launched pilot tests, manufactured over 1,000 modified clay pots, and provided access to safe drinking water for more than 10 rural communities.

From 2006 to 2009, Dave also held various roles at the Uganda Village Project, including Treasurer and Board Member, and Summer Program Assistant.

In 2011, Dave joined the Berkeley Student Cooperative as a Crew Chief, where they trained and led student employees in packing food and managed warehouse inventory.

During the same year, Dave started working at Lookout. Dave began as a Marketing Intern, where they worked on a rails web app and used SQL to query and automate email delivery of user acquisition data. In 2012, they transitioned to a Software Engineer role, and in 2017, they became a Senior Software Engineer. Currently, Dave holds the position of Staff Software Engineer at Lookout.

Overall, Dave D. has gained a diverse range of skills and experiences throughout their career, including software engineering, research and technology, project implementation, and public service.

Dave D. attended the University of California, Berkeley from 2005 to 2010. During this time, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology.
