Hélio Lontra

Principal Process Engineer at Loop Industries

Hélio Lontra has a wealth of work experience in the field of process engineering. Hélio started their career as a Process Engineering Intern at PPH Polypropylene Company in 1986. Hélio then moved on to NORAGRO Chemicals, where they worked as a Process Engineering Intern for a few months before becoming a Junior Process Engineer. In 1988, they joined EDN - Estireno do Nordeste S.A. - Styrene, Polystyrene & Ethylbenzene as a Junior/Intermediary Process Engineer and stayed there until 1993.

In 1994, Hélio Lontra joined SNC-Lavalin as a Project Manager/Intermediary Process Engineer. Hélio then moved to Ultragen in 1995, where they worked as a Senior Process Engineer until 2001. After that, they joined BPR-Bechtel as a Principal Process Engineer for a few years before returning to Ultragen in 2005, this time as a Process Engineering Manager. Hélio held that position until 2012 when they joined VTEK Consultants Inc. as a Process Engineering Manager.

Hélio Lontra worked at VTEK Consultants Inc. until 2017 when they joined WSP in Canada as a Senior Process Engineer. Hélio held that position until 2020. Currently, they are working at Loop Industries as a Principal Process Engineer, a position they have been in since February 2021.

Hélio Lontra's education history begins in 1982, when they attended the Universidade Federal Fluminense and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Hélio then pursued further education at COPPE-Rio de Janeiro Federal University from 1988 to 1990, where they earned a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Hélio'sthesis was focused on Styrene Suspension Polymerization Batch Reactor Modeling, Dynamic Simulation, and Digital Control. During the same period, they also obtained a specialization degree in Research and Development of Petrochemical and Chemical Processes from Petrobras' CEPESQ program. This degree allowed him to further their knowledge and expertise in the field of research and development of petrochemical and chemical processes.
