John Engel has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades in various roles and industries. John started their career in 1984 as a Summer Associate at Northern Engraving, where they worked until 1988. From 1986 to 1989, they also worked as a Summer Intern at Dow Corning. In 1993, they joined Wausau Paper as a Product Development Scientist and later served as the Technical Director, Director of Coated Products, and VP & GM of Coated Products.
In 2013, Engel joined Expera Specialty Solutions as the Vice President of Coated Products, where they successfully grew the silicone coating business and developed a long-term growth strategy. In 2015, they transitioned to Loparex as the Eden Plant Manager and later took on roles such as Global Product Marketing Manager, Director of Strategic Marketing and Product Development, and currently serves as the Global Vice President of Asset Strategy.
Throughout their career, Engel has demonstrated expertise in asset strategy, strategic marketing, product development, and profitably growing businesses in various markets.
John Engel obtained their high school diploma in General Studies from Sparta High School in 1984. John then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a Minor in Business from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, completing it in 1988. From 1989 to 1993, they attended Iowa State University, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry. In 2019, John enrolled in Cornell University and completed a Business Strategy Certificate.
