Sheer El Showk

Sheer El Showk has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Starting in 2000, Sheer worked as a Lead Developer at Saraf Software Solutions, where they managed the development of a domain registration system. In 2010, they transitioned to become a Postdoctoral Researcher at CEA, focusing on black holes in string theory and later becoming one of the pioneers of the Conformal Bootstrap approach. Sheer then joined CERN in 2013 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where they developed novel numerical methods for studying critical phenomena and received the prestigious EU-COFUND Fellowship. In 2015, while on leave from CERN, Sheer worked as a CNRS Researcher at LPTHE, spearheading research on the conformal bootstrap and publishing a paper on a new and efficient method for studying phase transitions. Continuing their research career, Sheer joined Nascent Ai in 2019 as the Founder and President, and then became the CTO at Lore Ai in 2018. Most recently, in 2020, Sheer worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Coiled before joining Anthropic in December 2021 as a Member of the Technical Staff.

Sheer El Showk earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Physics & Math from the University of California, Berkeley, where they studied from 1996 to 2000. Sheer then pursued further education and received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and M.Sc. from the University of Amsterdam from 2003 to 2009, specializing in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics.
