Ilkay Altintas

Ilkay Altintas is a prominent figure in the field of cyberinfrastructure and data science, currently serving as Division Director for Cyberinfrastructure and Convergence Research and Education and Chief Data Science Officer at the San Diego Supercomputer Center since October 2001. Altintas has a rich background in workflow management and automation through roles such as Director of the Center of Excellence in Workflows for Data Science and Director of the Scientific Workflow Automation Technologies Lab. Additionally, Altintas is involved as a Research Programmer/Analyst at the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute, Founding Co-Director of the ProWESS Center at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and plays a significant role at the Climate and Wildfire Institute. With an academic foundation from the University of Amsterdam (PhD in Computational Science) and Middle East Technical University (MS, BSc in Computer Engineering), Altintas is dedicated to advancing data science education and promoting innovative solutions for complex scientific challenges.
