Matthew Bassett is an experienced educator and program specialist currently serving as a Senior Program Specialist at the Los Angeles County Office of Education since November 2023, supporting teachers in Physical Education and Wellness. Matthew holds positions as an Adjunct Professor at California State University-Long Beach since August 2018 and at the University of La Verne from August 2022 to December 2023, teaching courses related to technology in physical education and credentialing in Physical Education and Health. With a robust background as a Physical Education Teacher at San Jose Charter Academy from August 2001 to November 2023, Matthew has developed lesson plans and assessment strategies while managing classroom environments and coaching. Additionally, Matthew has been recognized for excellence in teaching, receiving honors such as the SHAPE America National Teacher of the Year in 2018 and the Southwest District Teacher of the Year.
