Gavin Benjafield serves as the Performance Director for Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) since January 2018, leading a multi-disciplinary Performance Team focused on enhancing player performance through strength and conditioning, sports science, nutrition, physiotherapy, and medical services. Key achievements under Gavin's leadership include winning the MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield in 2022 and being a finalist in the Concacaf Champions League in 2023. Prior to LAFC, Gavin held similar positions at Watford Football Club and AFC Ajax, significantly reducing injury rates and enhancing player availability. Gavin's career began with roles in education and consulting, establishing strong relationships within the athletic community while earning degrees in Exercise Physiology and Sports Science from Stellenbosch University.
