John Walton

John Walton M.A. is an experienced news director with a background in broadcast journalism, holding both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge. Currently serving as News Director at BRProud/WGMB/WVLA since July 2021, John has extensive leadership experience in various news organizations, including KTAL and KARD/KTVE, where responsibilities included supervising newsroom staff, managing yearly budgets, and overseeing station news branding. Recognized for excellence in the industry, John's previous roles have also included executive producer and assistant news director, demonstrating a strong ability to manage teams and produce quality news content.
