Benjamin Thacher is an accomplished violinist and educator with extensive experience in teaching and performance. Currently, Benjamin serves as a Violin Teacher at the University of New Orleans, where responsibilities include coaching chamber music and performing as a member of the Lott String Quartet. Benjamin has been a violinist with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra since 2013, holding the position of Acting Concertmaster from September 2013 to May 2015 and currently rotating in the section. Previous roles include Associate Concertmaster with the Boise Philharmonic Association and a Violin/Viola Instructor and Academy Director at Medicine Hat College. As the Conductor of the Chamber Orchestra and Director of the Young Artist Chamber Program at Nashoba Youth Orchestras, Benjamin conducted rehearsals and concerts while also coaching chamber music. Benjamin holds a Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music and a high school diploma from the Walnut Hill School for the Arts.
