Chris Eskew

Deputy Superintendent, Support at Louisiana State Police

Lt. Colonel Eskew was hired in January of 1998 and worked uniform patrol at Troop A in Baton Rouge area for six years. He also worked as a trooper in Recruiting, Operational Development, Internal Affairs, Crisis Response and BCII-LCJIS sections.

On October 10, 2007, Lt. Colonel Eskew was promoted in Crisis Response, Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as the EOC Sergeant. He was tasked with statewide emergency preparedness and coordination for LSP. In this capacity, he was the Emergency Support Function 13 (ESF-13) lead for LSP in the State of Louisiana Emergency Operations Plan.

In 2011, Lt. Colonel Eskew was detailed to Lieutenant in Internal Affairs where he oversaw investigations related to complaints of employee misconduct. The section is also responsible for investigating the background of Department of Public Safety applicants to ensure that only the best candidates are considered for employment.

In September 2012, Lt. Colonel Eskew was promoted to Lieutenant as the Deputy Director of the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information – Louisiana Criminal Justice Information Systems (BCII-LCJIS). This assignment encompassed the daily operations of BCII-LCJIS as well as the Concealed Handgun Permit Unit. Units within BCII-LCJIS include: Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), Civil Background Check Applicant Unit, Computerized Criminal History (CCH), NCIC/LLETS Access Unit and the Sex Offender Registry. The section consists of seventy-four (74) dedicated employees. Lt. Colonel Eskew was promoted to Captain over BCII-LCJIS in July 2018.

In May 2020, Lt. Colonel Eskew was again transferred to Internal Affairs.

On April 19, 2021, Lt. Colonel Eskew was appointed by Colonel Lamar Davis to serve as the Deputy Superintendent over Support. The Support Command includes the program management of the following: LSP Training Academy, Joint Emergency Services Training Center (JESTC), Physical Security, Capitol Detail, Crime Lab, BCII-LCJIS, Police Logistical Supply and Fleet Services.

Lt. Colonel Eskew received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Louisiana State University (LSU).
