Monica LaRocco-McVay has over 19 years of experience in the field of education and community engagement. From 2002 to 2021, they worked as a Learning and Development Specialist at various institutions where they created dynamic lessons and behavior strategies for students with emotional and varied needs, and collaborated with teachers and staff to find successful solutions. From 2004 to 2020, they served as a Community Engagement and Learning and Development Trainer and prepared interventions for teachers and staff in self-contained settings. Monica also researched and evaluated behavior plans for students with high-magnitude behaviors. In 2020, they joined Wilmette School District 39 as a Learning and Development Specialist and created remote lessons that reached students with varied needs. Monica leveraged software such as Power School and Google Classroom to communicate with students and parents. In 2021, Monica joined Schaumburg School District 54 as a Learning and Development Specialist. Currently, they work at Love Local Media Agency as a Community Engagement and Brand Manager, where they help local businesses and non-profit organizations to tell their story and bring attention to all of the small to medium businesses in preserving the uniqueness of local communities. Monica creates a positive and electric work vibe, making Love Local Media not just a business but a movement.

Monica LaRocco-McVay holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in education from the University of North Florida and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Harper College. Monica has additional certifications in Strategic Thinking from LinkedIn and as a Certified Instructor from the Professional Crisis Management Association. Monica also holds Florida Exceptional Student Education (K-12) Certification and Illinois Learning Behavior Specialist (Preschool-21) Certification.
