Assistant Fire Chief at Loveland Fire Rescue Authority

Tim Smith has extensive experience in the fire service, currently serving as Assistant Fire Chief for Loveland Fire Rescue Authority since October 1997, overseeing the Operations Division that includes battalions, volunteer personnel, and multiple fire stations. Tim has also contributed to Aims Community College as Division Chief of Operations and an adjunct instructor, focusing on academy-level instruction from January 2003 to December 2021. Prior roles include firefighter at Wheat Ridge Fire Department and dispatch supervisor at West Metro Fire Rescue. Tim holds an Academic Certificate in Public Safety Administration from the University of Colorado Denver and an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science Technology from Red Rocks Community College.

Loveland Fire Rescue Authority

The Loveland Fire Rescue Authority is a combination department which utilizes both career and volunteer firefighters. Our staff consists of over 100 career members (including both uniformed and civilian employees) and a volunteer battalion that serves the Big Thompson Canyon and the town of Drake. These department members operate under the leadership of a career Fire Chief. The department also receives valuable citizen input from the Fire & Rescue Advisory Commission.
