Jennings Newcom

Jay Newcom served as General Counsel and a Partner of LMP from the firm's inception in 1999 through 2018, when he was appointed an advisor. He has over 40 years of experience in sophisticated corporate and securities transactions, with an emphasis on private equity investing in the asset management industry. Jay’s prior associations include McDermott, Will & Emery LLP (Chicago), Rifkind, Sterling & Lockwood LLP (Beverly Hills), Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP (Kansas City) and Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP (Denver), where he was a retired Partner through 2013.

Jay earned a B.A. degree from Graceland University, where he later received an Honorary Doctorate of Law, and a J.D. degree from Harvard University.
