Shirley Murrant

Shirley Murrant is an experienced laboratory director currently overseeing operations at Lowell General Hospital since July 2016, managing a team of 10 direct reports and 88 employees conducting 3 million tests annually. Prior to this role, Shirley served as the Laboratory Operations Manager at Hartford Hospital from January 2010 to July 2016, focusing on improving patient satisfaction and operational efficiency. Shirley’s career in laboratory management began at Martin Memorial Health Systems, where further responsibilities included supervising chemistry laboratory operations and increasing testing volumes. Additional experience includes positions such as Chemistry Manager and Safety Officer at Hartford Hospital, as well as roles at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Army National Guard. Shirley holds a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from Fitchburg State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
