Emma Holderness has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Emma currently serves as the Chief Organisational Development and Culture Officer at Loyalty NZ since November 2023. Prior to that, they were a City Councillor at Upper Hutt City Council starting in October 2022. Emma also worked as a Senior Consultant at Catapult NZ - Leadership Performance from February 2017 to November 2023. Emma previously held the role of Development Consultant at The Training Practice from May 2013 to January 2017. Emma also served as a Trustee on the board of the Wellington Dance Festival Charitable Trust from 2012 to 2014. Emma has had various senior advisory and management positions at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Emma has also worked as a teacher and relief teacher at various high schools. Overall, Emma has a strong background in leadership, training, consultancy, and public service.

Emma Holderness completed their education at various institutions. Emma obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Massey University between 2013 and 2017. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Victoria University from 1994 to 1997. In 1998, they completed a Diploma of Teaching at Wellington College of Education, specializing in Secondary Education with a focus on English, Classical Studies, and Performing Arts. Additionally, Emma has obtained certifications as a Gallup StrengthsFinder Coach from Gallup in 2014 and as a Myers Briggs Type Indicator Step I and II practitioner from CPPA Asia Pacific in 2010.
