Javier Maymí-Pérez

Javier Maymí-Pérez has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Javier is currently working as an Adjunct Professor at Syracuse University, where they teach a Journalism course in Spanish. Prior to this role, they served as the Director of Communications at the Law School Admission Council.

From 2018 to 2021, Javier worked as the Manager of Membership for Latin America and the Caribbean at AACSB International. In this role, they promoted and represented AACSB to key stakeholders, engaged with prospective and current members, and provided support to the supporting manager.

Javier also gained valuable experience at ESPN as an Associate Editor and Senior Editor. Javier was involved in writing, editing, and content management for ESPN.com and ESPNDeportes.com. Javier was also a valuable member of the team that launched ESPNDeportes.com.

Additionally, Javier worked as a Senior Consultant at The Policy Shop Inc., where they provided strategic communications, public relations, and government affairs advice. Javier also held a variety of roles throughout their career, including serving as the Press Secretary/Director of Communications for the Gov. Pedro Rosselló 2004 Gubernatorial Campaign and working as a Washington Correspondent for El Vocero de Puerto Rico.

In 2015, Javier joined CVS Health as a Consultant, where they were responsible for technical writing and translation for Medicare and Medicaid-related correspondence.

Earlier in their career, Javier served as the Senior Editor of CENTRO Tampa - The Tampa Tribune, overseeing the operations and editorial content of the Spanish weekly newspaper.

Overall, Javier Maymí-Pérez has extensive experience in journalism, communications, and teaching, with a strong background in Latin American media.

Javier Maymí-Pérez holds a Master's in Liberal Arts with a focus on Florida Studies from the University of South Florida, which they obtained from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science also at the University of South Florida, from 2015 to 2017. Their earlier education includes a Bachelor's degree program in History and Communications from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, which they pursued from 1987 to 1990. Javier also earned a high school diploma in Music Performance, General from the Interlochen Center for the Arts in 1987 to 1985. In addition to their academic achievements, they have obtained certifications in Thriving @ Work: Leveraging the Connection between Well-Being and Productivity and Working Remotely from LinkedIn, in April 2020 and March 2020 respectively.
