Jaap Smit

Jaap Smit is an experienced GIS advisor and project leader currently working at LTO Noord since October 2022 and running Jaap Smit Advies since March 2021. Prior experience includes a sabbatical at Pas op de plaats, and a long tenure at Veiligheidsregio IJsselland from April 1997 to March 2020, where responsibilities included managing the regional geospatial resource and leading a team in fire prevention advisory. Jaap Smit has also authored various publications including "Leidraad GIS en Brandweer" and contributed to significant projects in the fire service sector. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Geographical Information Science from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam among other studies at notable institutions.
