Joaquín Cintrón Vega has a wealth of experience in the housing industry. Joaquín currently serves as the President & CEO of Lucas Metropolitan Housing, where they provide leadership and direction to drive growth and achieve the agency's mission. Prior to this role, they were the Director of Public Housing for Miami-Dade County. Joaquín also held the position of Chief Financial Officer / VP of Asset Management at Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority. Earlier in their career, Joaquín worked at the Departamento de la Vivienda, where they held various roles such as Senior Budget Analyst, Senior Accountant, Audits Coordinator, and Accountant. Joaquín also served as the Emergency Management Coordinator during their time at Departamento de la Vivienda.

Joaquín Cintrón Vega earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Accounting from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, which they attended from 1996 to 1999. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including the Executive Director Education Program from Rutgers University Center for Government Services in January 2023. Joaquín also holds certifications from FEMA, including ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incident, Introduction to Incident Command System ICS-100, National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction, and National Response Framework, An Introduction, all obtained in June 2014. Furthermore, they have a Public Housing Manager certification from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), although the specific details of its attainment are not provided.

Lucas Metropolitan Housing

Established in 1933, Lucas Metropolitan Housing (LMH) continues to provide affordable housing to adults, seniors and children in its Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Mixed-Income and market rate housing units. LMH, also, provides a myriad of programs and opportunities designed to improve the total quality of life for our residents, with the ultimate goal of achieving self-sufficiency. The programs and services are the result of successful collaborations with numerous community partners. Our current housing portfolio consists of 2,669 public housing units; 4,732 Housing Choice Vouchers allocated units; 322 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit units; 198 Market Rate units; and, 107 Homeownership Properties.
