Chao Han

Chao Han has a diverse work experience with a strong background in data science and statistical analysis. Chao started their career as a Consultant at the Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis. Chao then worked as an Intern at GlaxoSmithKline Pharma GmbH, where they developed an Immuno Assay Cutoff Determination Package. Chao also worked as an Intern at AT&T Labs research, exploring clustering methods for large cellular network data.

Chao's next role was as a Research Assistant at Virginia Tech, where they built statistical models and software for visualizing high dimensional data. Chao also created interactive visualization for NSF award portfolios.

Chao then joined JPMorgan Chase as an AVP, Senior Statistical Analyst, where they developed string comparison algorithms for transaction data mining and job changer identification. Chao reduced implementation time significantly using Perl programming and parallel computing. In their subsequent role as VP, Statistical Analyst Manager, Chao initiated and led the "Robot Modeler" project, aimed at building an automatic model-building module to reduce modeling time.

Following their time at JPMorgan Chase, Chao worked at SAS as a Senior Research Statistician Developer, and at Lucidworks as a Senior Data Scientist. At SAS, they worked as a Statistician Developer, and at Lucidworks, they designed and built automatic document clustering, anomaly detection, and NLP modules using Spark, Scala, and Python. In their role as VP, Head of Data Science at Lucidworks, Chao drove the research agenda and led a team of data scientists in conducting research using AI methods for building search solutions. Chao also led consulting projects and demoed AI products to technical leaders and C-level executives.

Chao Han obtained a Bachelor of Economics degree in Management Information Systems from Xiamen University, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Chao later pursued a Ph.D. in Statistics at Virginia Tech from 2006 to 2012. In addition to their academic qualifications, Chao Han has obtained certifications in SAS Advance and SAS Base, although specific details regarding the institutions and dates are not provided.
