Attilio Zimatore is a Full Professor of Private Law at Luiss, where he also teaches Civil Law.
Prof. Zimatore began teaching as an Assistant Professor at Rome's La Sapienza University, his alma mater, first working as a researcher in Private Law before achieving Full Professor. From 1990-2000, he was a tenured Professor at the University of Molise - Campobasso (first in the School of Economic and Social Sciences and subsequently at the Law School), also coordinating the PhD program in Economic Law at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo, School of Economics.
Since 2000, Zimatore has held the Private Law Chair at Luiss, acting as Director of the Legal Science Department there from 2007-2011. In addition to practicing as a lawyer, he acts as the Extraordinary Administrator for various large companies, including the Cirio Del Monte Group, by appointment of the Ministry of Economic Development.
In 2015, the Ministry of Justice appointed him as a member of the Investigative Committee for reforming insolvency procedures and was a member of a ministerial commission for the reform of broadcasting law.
Zimatore has served as Chairman of Prelios Credit Servicing SpA and is currently Chairman of the company, Nuova Compagnia di Partecipazioni SpA. He has sat on the Board of Directors for Angelini Holding SpA since January 2019. He was a member of the Italian National Olympic Committee’s High Court of Sports Justice, and is currently President of the Second Section of the Sports Guarantee Committee. He is an active member of the Italian civil law association, Civilisti Italiani.
