Justin Saldanha

Having a passion for the sea, at a young age Justin started his career as an officer cadet in the Merchant Navy in Mumbai, India. After migrating to Canada, he continued by working on the Great Lakes and later in the Caribbean as an officer in the navigation department on board the ships. During this time, he worked on both general cargo ships and bulk carriers. After serving on board ships, he became a marine and cargo surveyor where he worked for and on behalf of insurers, ship owners and charterers in both Montreal and Toronto.

Justin later on worked for an insurance company in Toronto in the recoveries department. Then with a Claims Adjusting firm as a Marine Consultant while acting for the insurers in the Toronto area. He is also a trained, certified mediator and has resolved disputes in the community.

Justin started as a volunteer with the former company Downsview Service to Seniors driving clients in the various programs and has continued with Lumacare delivering meals to seniors and clients in the Meals on Wheels program. He is also a volunteer in the community helping seniors. He is a care giver and in the spare time likes cooking, gardening and plays badminton.

Justin has been an agency member with the Lumacare Board since 2019 and serves on two sub committees. He has joined the Board as member in September 2022.
