David Perez

David Perez has a diverse work experience, starting with their role as Co-Founder and Managing Director at InsurTech ATX since November 2020. At InsurTech ATX, they are responsible for connecting the InsurTech community in Austin and establishing partnerships between insurtechs, legacy insurance, and service providers.

Prior to that, David founded and served as the President of Lumen Insurance Technologies in 2016. Lumen Insurance Technologies specializes in assisting startups in the Austin tech ecosystem with commercial insurance needs such as D&O, E&O, and Cyber liability during crucial stages like Series A funding.

Before venturing into entrepreneurship, David worked as a Commercial Insurance and Risk Advisor at Texas Associates Insurors from September 2010 to February 2016.

In 2012, David was part of the Young Agent Advisory Council at the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas.

David also has military experience, having served as an Officer in the United States Air Force from January 2004 to June 2010, where they held a Top Secret Security Clearance and specialized in Nukes.

Overall, David Perez has a well-rounded background in the insurance industry, with experience in entrepreneurship, advising startups, and military service.

David Perez graduated from Texas A&M University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. In 2007, they pursued a Master of Business Administration degree from Colorado State University, completing it in 2009. In 2011, they participated in the Emerge Program at Leadership Austin. Additionally, they obtained the Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) Designation from The Hartford in January 2011, and has certifications in Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) Designation, Life and Health Insurance License, and Property and Casualty Insurance License from respective institutions and departments.
