Matthew Larsen has had a varied and impressive work experience. Matthew began their career in 2005 as a Field Network Engineer for High Density Networks, where they were responsible for answering trouble calls from customers and diagnosing network issues. Matthew also designed a network of Cisco AP's and routers to provide wireless internet access within a one hundred and twenty unit apartment complex. In 2007, they became an IT Consultant for Absolute Celluar. In 2008, they worked as a Referee for Polo. From 2013 to 2021, they have held various roles at several organizations. At POS Portal, they were a P2 Developer. At the University of Oregon, they were a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant, focusing on computer graphics and scientific visualization. Matthew also developed a library for ray tracing in a distributed memory parallel environment on both CPUs and GPUs. At Oak Ridge National Laboratory, they were an Intern Programmer, developing renderers for the EAVL visualization library. Finally, they have been a Developer at Luminary Cloud since 2021 and a Scientific Software Developer and Programming Intern at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory since 2015.
Matthew Larsen attended Jesuit High School from 1993 to 1997. Matthew then went on to CSUS, where they earned a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science from 2010 to 2012. After that, they attended the University of Oregon, where they earned a Master's degree in Computer Science in 2016 and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science in 2016.
