Alexandra Leyte-Vidal

Scientist I at Lumos Diagnostics

Alexandra Leyte-Vidal has been working in the field of diagnostics for over five years. Alexandra began their career in 2016 as a Research Associate III at nanoComposix, where they developed and optimized lateral flow assays to develop functional point-of-care diagnostics. During their time there, they developed a proof-of-concept device for a Phase I SBIR grant, which led to a Phase II award of $1,000,000 in funding from the Defense Health Program (DHP). Alexandra also developed technical writing skills to write monthly progress reports for the SBIR grant. In 2019, they began working as a Biological Scientist II at the University of Florida's Emerging Pathogens Institute. There, they worked on developing a saliva-based malaria asymptomatic and asexual rapid test (SMAART-1) for the detection of malaria via a novel biomarker. Alexandra tested field saliva samples collected from subjects in sub-Saharan Africa. In 2021, Alexandra began working as a Scientist I at Lumos Diagnostics.

Alexandra Leyte-Vidal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Central Florida.
