Mariela Piquer

Mariela Piquer, CPA, CGA, is an experienced finance professional currently serving as the Director of Finance and Administration at Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre since February 2023. Prior to this role, Mariela held positions as Controller and Senior Financial Accountant at Discovery House Family Violence Prevention Society from December 2016 to February 2023 and worked as a Senior Accountant at Grant Thornton LLP in Canada from September 2014 to November 2016. Earlier experience includes roles as an Intermediate Accountant at Grant Thornton LLP and DCB, Chartered Accountants, as well as an Accounting Technician at John J. Geib, Professional Corporation. Mariela has significant expertise in financial statement preparation, tax return filings, cash management, and accounting for medium-sized businesses, complemented by a strong foundation in training junior accounting technicians. Mariela's educational background includes studies at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
