Dan Kominsky is a Senior Research Scientist at Luna Innovations Incorporated since October 2015, specializing in research and development of fiber optic sensing technologies, particularly focused on fiber optic shape sensing for lengths exceeding 30 meters. Prior to this role, Dan served as Vice President of Research and Development at Prime Photonics LC from April 2010 to August 2015, where expertise in fiber optic sensor technologies for extreme environment applications was demonstrated. Dan also held positions at Prime Research, LC, including Vice President of Engineering, and Senior Research Engineer, concentrating on harsh environment sensing technologies, particularly for turbine engine applications. Dan holds a PhD in Waveguide Optics from Virginia Tech, a Master’s in Optics from the University of Rochester, and a Bachelor’s in Physics and Astronomy from Vassar College.
