Thijs got his M.Sc. in AI from the University of Amsterdam specializing in computer vision and machine learning. After that, he got a Ph.D. in deep learning for medical imaging at Radboud University in The Netherlands. During his studies, he held visiting positions at Keio University, The National University of Singapore, and Johns Hopkins University. He published several high-impact papers on deep learning for medical imaging. Before joining Lunit he was at Merantix and later Vara in Berlin as head R&D, where he developed a CE-certified triaging solution for screening mammography. His research interests are machine learning and medical image analysis.
