Rick Miller has had a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Rick began their career in 1986 as a Microelectronics Research Engineer in the United States Air Force. In 1995, they transitioned to the role of Principal Software Engineer at SDRC. After leaving SDRC in 1999, Rick joined Siemens PLM Software as a Program Manager in 2007. Rick stayed with Siemens PLM Software until 2022. In addition to their work in the software industry, Rick also has experience in flight training. Rick worked as a Certified Flight Instructor for himself from 2008, and later joined Lunken Flight Training Center in 2019 as a Flight Instructor before being promoted to the position of Chief Flight Instructor.

Rick Miller completed their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Auburn University between the years 1982 and 1984. After that, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Semiconductor Device Physics at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology from 1990 to 1992. Additionally, they attended the University of Cincinnati from 1993 to 1996, where they were engaged in Computer Engineering studies and reached the stage of All But Dissertation (ABD) in their degree program.
