John Bailey is the Chairman of Lusardi Construction where he provides invaluable guidance on the future direction of the company. He has been dedicated to this role for nearly 50 years and is essential to fostering Lusardi Construction’s standing as one of the nation’s top general contractors.
Prior to joining the company, Bailey was a project manager at Swinerton & Walberg, one of the country’s largest building and construction firms. He began his career as a selected participant in a training program for graduate engineers in construction management. Bailey also grew up in the industry, with his father, grandfather and great-grandfather owning and operating the well-known general contracting firm F.R. Bailey and Son.
An active member of the community, Bailey has served as a board member of the Palomar Family YMCA, and is an associate member of both the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Association of Cost Engineers. He is also recognized as an honorary member of the San Marcos Boys & Girls Clubs.
Bailey graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Windsor, Canada. He was an outstanding scholar having graduated first in class in all disciplines. He also received multiple academic awards including, the Gold Medal Award for Academic Achievement from the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, and the University’s Gold Medal Award for Civil Engineering. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master’s of Science in Construction Management and Administration from Cornell University while on a National Research Council of Canada scholarship.
