Carl Thibault

VP of Engineering at Lux Aerobot

Carl Thibault has extensive work experience in the aerospace industry. Carl is currently the VP of Engineering at Lux Aerobot, a position they have held since October 2022. Prior to this role, they were a Product Manager at the same company from October 2021 to October 2022. From 2016, Carl owned MakeTech Aerospace Corporation. Carl also worked as a Project Manager at Seamatica Aerospace from July 2014 to July 2021, where they were responsible for overseeing UAV operations in various environments. Carl began their career at the University of New Brunswick, where they worked as a Research and Development Engineer from January 2014 to July 2014. Carl also held roles as a Research Assistant and Hardware Developer, Teaching Assistant, and Lab Assistant at the university from 2008 to 2013. Additionally, Carl volunteered as a judge for the UNB Robotics Competition in 2011. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard at the CFB Recreation Association from 2002 to 2009. In 2007, they worked as a Special Projects Group Document Control at ADI Limited for a brief period of time.

Carl Thibault received their Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Mechatronics from the University of New Brunswick in 2009. Carl went on to complete their Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the same institution from 2009 to 2013.

In terms of certifications, Carl obtained a Diploma in University Teaching from the University of New Brunswick in November 2013. Carl also completed UAV Flight Training at Draganfly Innovations Inc. in June 2011. Additionally, Carl holds a Canadian Amateur Radio Licence (Basic with Honours) issued by Industry Canada. The specific dates of obtaining this license are unknown.

Lux Aerobot

Lux is a space robotics company that specializes in the design, manufacturing and operation of high-altitude platforms (HAPs) for Earth observation (EO). Through our unique imagery data, Lux is developing an AI platform to help a range of applications from bushfire management to national security leveraging smart analytics suited formultiple-industries. Therefore, helping each customer identify the right data set based on their needs is critical. In our case, we can help with a large range of scientific instruments and those provide data we can then share with our users via API. Combined with the right analytics, there are hardly any limits to what solution can be built.
