Harlan Kredit

I am thankful every day that I can teach at Lynden Christian School; God has truly blessed me. I graduated from Calvin College in 1961 and received my Masters in Teaching Science from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. After teaching at Unity Christian High School in Hudsonville, Michigan for eleven years, I moved back to my home town of Lynden to begin teaching at Lynden Christian High School. I teach Senior Biology, and Earth Science. Since 1970, I have worked summers as a Park Ranger at Yellowstone National Park. This has been an exciting way to spend my summer teaching and helping others to appreciate God’s creation.

A major emphasis in my science teaching has always been to use the outdoors as a significant part of our science curriculum. My students are involved in many different types of field trip activities focusing on salmon restoration work of the Fishtrap Creek. Annually, my students raise and release 50,000 coho salmon into the stream. We also take field trips to Church Mountain and the Olympic Peninsula. I believe that God commands us to be stewards and involving students in the “caretaking” of His world is a special way of connecting students with that command.

God gave me a special gift in my wife, Linda, to whom I have been married for 50 years. Our three children, Kim, Tim, and Karen, are married and all live in Washington. The church home we have had for many years is the Third Christian Reformed Church in Lynden.
