John Kearley has a diverse work experience. John retired in 2017 and may take on consulting roles while traveling. Prior to retirement, they worked as a Senior Project Lead at Lynxnet, LLC starting in 2016. From 2014 to 2015, they held a similar role at IPKeys Technologies. Before that, they were a Project Manager at Engility Corporation from 2014 to 2014. John has also worked at Dynamics Research Corp as a Project Manager from 2012 to 2014, where they supported the US Coast Guard Readiness and Readiness Reporting program. Prior to this, they were involved in the analysis of Naval and Military Operations, Readiness, and Training at DRC from 1995 to 2014. John Kearley's work experience extends back to their time in the US Navy, where they served as a Captain from 1993 to 1995. During their naval career, they held various roles and was the Commanding Officer of USS E. Montgomery (FF-1082) from 1986 to 1988.

John Kearley completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, which they attended from 1965 to 1969. Following that, they pursued their Master of Business Administration degree in IT from the Strome College of Business from 2000 to 2003.
