Cerien Streefland has a strong background in various roles within academic institutions. Cerien started their career as a PhD student at the University of Groningen in 1992 and later became a postdoctoral research fellow at UMCG. Cerien then held multiple roles at the University of Groningen, including senior advisor on research policy and managing director of the graduate school. Additionally, they worked as a secretary to international research assessment committees at UMCG and the Department of Genetics. In 2014, Cerien joined the Donders Institute for Brain Cognition and Behaviour as the Secretary/Algemeen Secretaris before moving on to become the Managing Director at Radboud University Nijmegen's Donders Centre for Neuroscience. Finally, they currently work as the CIO Operations at Maastricht University.
Cerien Streefland attended the University of Groningen from 1985 to 1991, where they obtained a doctorate degree in medical and molecular biology, as well as a Master of Science (MSc) degree in biology. Additionally, in 1989 and 1990, they studied molecular neurobiology at the Institut Cochin de Genetique Moleculaire in Paris. Prior to their university education, they attended de waezenburg from 1979 to 1984, although no specific degree or field of study is provided for this period.
