Thomas Wong Matthews

Thomas Wong Matthews currently serves as the Director of Cyber Security and Chief Information Security Officer at MacEwan University since April 2024. Prior to this role, Thomas worked at Google as a Principal Security Consultant with Mandiant, delivering strategic cyber security services from April 2023 to March 2024. From January 2013 to April 2023, Thomas held various leadership positions within Canadian Western Bank, including Assistant Vice President of Information Security Program Management, with a focus on project delivery, Identity and Access Management, and Data Protection. Earlier experience includes senior roles at Alberta Health Services and Deloitte Canada, where Thomas specialized in incident response, digital forensics, and security operations. Thomas also has foundational experience in technical support and software engineering from Shaw Communications. Academic credentials include a Management Development Certificate from the University of Alberta and a Diploma in Information Technology Foundations from Strathcona Career Training Institute.
