Azadeh Assarpour serves as a Geriatrician at Mount Auburn Cambridge Independent Practice Association, Inc. (MACIPA) and Mount Auburn Hospital since August 2013, where also holds the position of medical director. Azadeh completed a Geriatric Fellowship at the Harvard Geriatric Fellowship program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center from 2012 to 2013. Prior education includes completing an Internal Medicine residency at Mount Auburn Hospital in conjunction with Harvard Medical School from 2008 to 2011, following the attainment of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Internal Medicine from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, earned between 1996 and 2004.
Mount Auburn Cambridge Independent Practice Association, Inc. (MACIPA)
MACIPA is a physician membership organization, established in 1985. Almost 500 primary care physicians and specialists who have privileges at Mount Auburn Hospital are members of MACIPA. Practice locations include Cambridge, Belmont, Watertown, Waltham, Somerville, Lexington, Arlington, Allston/Brighton. Newton, and Medford . MACIPA PCPs have approximately 250,000 patients enrolled in their practices. MACIPA’s accomplishments in controlling healthcare costs and improving quality are well known. MACIPA was chosen as one of the original participants in CMS’ Medicare Pioneer Contract and today participates in the Medicare Shared Savings’ Program. MACIPA was also selected as the first physician organization to participate in the Alternative Quality Contract. In conjunction with our physicians, MACIPA develops and manages programs in quality improvement, care management, population management, patient experience, health information exchange, and pharmacy. These initiatives lead to better health outcomes, reduction in hospital admissions, and better management of health care spending.
