Alex Hutton has a wide range of work experience in various industries. Alex began their career in 2000 as a State Manager at Smorgon Steel. Alex later served as General Manager at Amcor Fibre Packaging from 2005 to 2008. Alex then became the Chief Operating Officer at Integria Natural Healthcare from 2008 to 2010. Alex held multiple roles at Comvita from 2010 to 2015, including Director and General Manager for the Comvita Pacific Region. Alex also worked as Senior Vice President at Comvita USA from 2014 to 2015. Alex's later roles include being CEO at St John (Qld) from 2016 to 2020 and Chairman at Rural Aid Ltd from 2019 to the present. Most recently, they became the CEO of Mackays Group in 2020.
Alex Hutton has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on International Business, Trade, and Tax Law from the University of New England (AU). They also hold a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the same university. Additionally, they have a degree in Business with a specialization in Property Valuation from The University of Queensland.

Stanley Mackay (Grandad) planted his first banana crop in North Queensland in 1945 beginning a family tradition that has lasted 75 years. Stanley Mackay pioneered the banana industry in Northern Australia and was awarded Australia's highest honour the 'Medal of the Order of Australia’ in 1985. John and Robert (Stanley’s two boys) continue to develop the family business. John and Robert's boys, the 3rd Generation - Gavin, Barrie, Stephen, Cameron, Daniel and brother-in-law Mark are together managing MacKays as it has grown to become Australia’s largest and most significant banana producer.
