Douglas Akis

Douglas Akis is a seasoned mining engineer with extensive experience in the mining industry, currently serving as a Senior Engineer - Mining at Macmahon since May 2022. Prior roles include Senior Mining Engineer at Gascoyne Resources Ltd from February 2020 to April 2022 and Mining Engineer at Bathurst Resources from May 2018 to January 2020. Douglas has significant experience at Porgera Joint Venture, where responsibilities ranged from supervising the Mine Engineering team to managing short-term and medium-term planning for the Open Pit Mine. Douglas began the career as a Graduate Mining Engineer at Newcrest Mining Limited and MAXAM Australia Pty Ltd, focusing on tactical and operational planning. A graduate of Papua New Guinea University of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Douglas possesses a comprehensive skill set in production engineering, mine planning, and stakeholder collaboration.
