Doug Willoughby

Co-Founder and Managing Director at MadDog Technology

Doug Willoughby has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Doug started their career in Logitek, Incorporated as a Computer Engineer from 1980 to 1983. Doug then worked as a Systems Software Engineer at Lamb Technicon from 1983 to 1984. After that, they joined Acromag Incorporated as a Software Engineering Supervisor, where they developed real-time process automation software from 1984 to 1988.

In 1988, Willoughby joined Sun Microsystems as an Enterprise Architect to General Motors. During their time there, they created innovative architectural solutions to critical customer challenges using Sun technology. Doug also worked as a Senior Systems Architect for Sun Grid Compute Utility, where they gathered requirements and developed the architectural framework necessary to support an independent software vendor (ISV) ecosystem on the "Sun Grid" compute utility.

In 1999, Willoughby became a Principal Architect at Sun Microsystems and provided architectural guidance and project remediation to General Motors' IS&S organization. Doug also mentored technical contributors in Java, J2EE, and XML architectures and technologies.

After leaving Sun Microsystems in 2009, Willoughby joined Compuware as the Chief Architect in the Advanced Development Group. Doug later became the Director of Cloud Computing Strategy, leading Compuware's business transformation around Cloud Computing. Doug collaborated with senior executives to define strategic goals and assess market opportunities.

In 2013, Willoughby worked at Quicken Loans as an Enterprise Architect/Consultant before co-founding MadDog Technology in the same year, where they currently serve as the Co-Founder and Managing Director.

Doug Willoughby obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University. Doug attended the university from 1975 to 1980. Later, they pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Wayne State University, where they studied from 1987 to 1990.
