James Poulten

James Poulten has a diverse work experience that spans various companies and roles. James started their career as an Experimental Condensed Matter Physics PhD at the Royal Holloway, University of London Physics Department, where they focused on studying novel magnetic materials and their mechanisms under extreme conditions. After completing their PhD, they joined Webtec Products Limited as a Technologies Project Manager, where they oversaw the design, testing, and release of new hydraulic measurement and control products. James also worked on producing computational fluid dynamics models for existing products. Following this, James Poulten joined Viable Data as a Consultant, working as a Data Scientist and Front End Developer for different government departments, including No. 10 Data Science, Cabinet Office, Home Office, and Border Force. In their role, they contributed to projects in data science and front-end development. Currently, they are working at Made Tech as a Senior Data Science Consultant, with a recent promotion to Lead Data Scientist.

From 2013 to 2017, James pursued a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Prior to their doctoral studies, they obtained a Master's Degree in Physics from Royal Holloway, University of London from 2009 to 2013.

Before entering university, James attended The Bishops Stortford High School until the year 2009.

Furthermore, James has also obtained various certifications in the field of Data Science. In August 2021, they completed the Data Science Professional Certificate from Coursera. James also achieved certifications in Machine Learning with Python, Data Visualization with Python, Data Analysis with Python, Data Science Methodology, Databases and SQL for Data Science, Python for Data Science and AI, and Tools for Data Science, all obtained in 2021.
