Hera Akmal

Hera Akmal currently serves as the Editorial Director at MA:E Magazine, leading a team focused on creating content aimed at APIDA empowerment, while also collaborating with the magazine's core board on creative direction. Hera manages a team of 25 students as the Project MIA Lead with M-HEAL, working on sustainable menstrual pad design for communities in Peru, and has previously held roles including Laboratory Assistant at pNEURO Lab and Research Assistant at Violi Lab within the University of Michigan Biomedical Engineering department. Hera's internship at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke is set for summer 2024, and academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a focus on Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Michigan, alongside a high school diploma from Rochester High School.
