Prashant Widge

Prashant Widge is the Head of Responsible Ship Recycling at A.P. Moller - Maersk. Prashant has over 12 years of experience in the maritime industry, having worked their way up from Second Officer to their current position.

Prashant started their career with Shell Trading & Shipping Company in November 2007 as a Second Officer. Prashant was quickly promoted to Chief Officer and then left the company in January 2009 to join Fleet Management Ltd.

At Fleet Management Ltd, Prashant held the positions of Master Mariner, Accident Investigator, Pre-vetting Inspector and Trainer. Prashant was responsible for risk assessment and management for shipboard operations, imparting training to shipboard staff, accident investigation and auditing, preparing tankers for oil-major inspection, implementing behavior-based safety, and handling vessel-related claims and insurance matters.

In January 2012, Prashant joined SE Shipping Lines Pte Ltd as their Senior Marine Operations Manager. In this role, they were responsible for managing port operations, vessel chartering and crewing, and domestic and import/export logistics, finance verticals and budgeting process/forecasting.

Prashant joined A.P. Moller - Maersk in October 2012 as Head of Responsible Ship Recycling. In this role, they are responsible for developing and driving the Maersk Group’s strategy on responsible ship recycling, as well as overseeing the operations of the group’s ship recycling facilities.

Prashant Widge has an Executive MBA from Copenhagen Business School, as well as a degree and diploma in Nautical Sciences from Birla Institute of Technology and Science. Prashant is also certified in ISO 9001:2008 Lead Auditor from the International Register of Certificated Auditors, and is a DNV-GL certified Risk Assessment and Management Specialist and Accident Investigator.
