Varderes Barsegyan

Co-Founder & CTO at Maestro

Varderes Barsegyan has diverse work experience in software engineering and bioinformatics research. Currently, they are the Co-Founder & CTO at Maestro, where they focus on software infrastructure services and developer tools for the Cardano blockchain. Additionally, they are the Owner of First Ascent Engineering, their own company.

Previously, Varderes worked as a Technical Project Manager & Engineering Manager at Genius Yield, a decentralized exchange for the Cardano blockchain. Varderes also held positions at Freenome as a Bioinformatics Research Engineer, where they led the development of proteomics software and built mass spectrometry data processing workflows. Prior to that, they worked at DNAnexus as a Software Engineer, focusing on infrastructure, DevOps, and site reliability.

Varderes has experience in the aerospace industry as well, having worked at The Aerospace Corporation as a Software Engineer on cloud platforms. Varderes has also gained research experience in bioinformatics as a Graduate Researcher at California State University, Long Beach, where they studied the structure and dynamics of biological molecules.

Earlier in their career, Varderes was a Software Engineering Intern at Panasonic Avionics Corporation, where they developed testing software for data visualization and analysis platforms. Varderes also served as a Programming Instructor at Great Minds Robotics and worked as a Software Engineer/Undergraduate Researcher at California State University, Northridge, focusing on computational biophysics.

Throughout their career, Varderes has demonstrated technical expertise, management skills, and a passion for blockchain technology, software development, and bioinformatics research.

Varderes Barsegyan obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Physics from California State University, Northridge, between the years 2012 and 2016. During this academic journey, they also embarked on a short-term study at the University of Washington in 2013 and 2014, focusing on Physics. Subsequently, from 2017 to 2019, Barsegyan pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science at California State University, Long Beach.
