Mario Fratzl

Industrialization director at MagIA diagnostics

Mario Fratzl has a diverse range of work experience. Mario started their career as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at GEKATEC GmbH, where they gained skills in metal forming, surface engineering, and welding. Mario then worked as a Research Assistant at the Institut für Produktionstechnik und Umformmaschinen, where they conducted laboratory experiments, analyzed data, and contributed to patent writing.

Mario then joined B/S/H/ Hausgeräte GmbH as a Product Development Engineer Intern, where they performed empirical model-based big data analysis for future products. Mario continued their academic pursuits as a Master Thesis Student at the Institut Néel CNRS, investigating magnetically induced convection cells in superparamagnetic suspensions.

Mario then joined G2Elab as a PhD Student, conducting research on micro-magnetic approaches for attracting biological specimens and developing a fluid-mechanical model for magnetic immunoassay. During this time, Mario was also a Postdoctoral Researcher at Institut Néel CNRS for a short period.

Since 2018, Mario has been involved in the MagIA diagnostics project. Mario initially joined as a Co-Founder and contributed to the development of a generic portable Point-of-Care immunoassay technology. Later, they became the Head of Industrialization, responsible for planning and coordinating the development of production facilities for the Point-of-Care cartridge. Currently, Mario holds the role of Industrialization Director at MagIA diagnostics.

Mario Fratzl started their education at Lycée français de Vienne LFV from 1997 to 2003. Mario then attended Französisches Gymnasium Berlin and obtained their Abitur, Baccalauréat (Section ES) in an unspecified field of study from 2003 to 2009. From 2009 to 2013, they pursued a degree in Mechanical Process Engineering at Technische Universität Darmstadt, where they earned their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). Mario continued their studies at Grenoble INP - UGA from 2013 to 2014 as part of an Erasmus program, focusing on Systems and Microsystems for Physics and Biotechnology. Following this, from 2013 to 2015, they pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mechanical Process Engineering at Technische Universität Darmstadt. Mario then completed their education by earning a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Université Grenoble Alpes from 2015 to 2018. In addition to their formal education, Mario obtained a certification in "Sachkundekurs für Laserschutzbeauftragte" from Prof. Klaus R. Goebel in January 2012.
