Ian McFarlane

Ian McFarlane is a highly experienced professional in system architecture and software engineering, currently serving as a Sr. Staff System Architect at Magna International, where work focuses on infrared imaging algorithms. Prior to this role, Ian was a Sr. Diagnostics Software Engineer at KLA, contributing four years of expertise in diagnostics, calibration, and software architecture. Academic experience includes a postdoctoral position at the University of California, Berkeley, where Ian developed a near infrared two-photon microscope and served as Instructor of Record for an introduction to neuroscience course. Additional roles include program engineering at JKI, research assistance at the USC Center for Electron Microscopy and Microanalysis, and teaching at Aveson Global Leadership Academy. Ian holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Southern California, complemented by a Diploma in Innovation and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from UC Santa Barbara.
