Syed Maroof has over 23 years of work experience in the technology and financial services industries. Syed is currently the Vice President of Technology - Merchant Acquiring at Magnati Pay, a position they have held since April 2021. Prior to this, from 2017 to 2021, they worked at First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) as an Assistant Vice President - Cards Acquiring Systems Development. During their time at FAB, they were responsible for program management, build and delivery of POS, e-Commerce Acquiring, and overseas regions' ATM and Debit cards systems projects. Syed also played a key role in the integration project that merged two large banks, NBAD and FGB, to form the largest bank in MENA.
Before joining FAB, Syed Maroof worked at National Bank of Abu Dhabi from 2011 to 2017 as a Group Leader - Cards Management Systems. In this role, they oversaw the rapid growth of the Merchant Services business and spearheaded the migration of cards issuing and acquiring systems to state-of-the-art platforms. Syed managed a team and was responsible for developing several cards peripheral applications.
From 2003 to 2011, Syed Maroof worked at CR2 as a Senior Product Consultant. Syed independently deployed ATM Switch, Card Production, Card Management, and Channels Integration solutions for over 35 banks in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. Syed was highly regarded by clients for critical projects.
Earlier in their career, Syed Maroof worked as a Research & Development Engineer at Sony Professional Solutions Europe from 2001 to 2002, where they developed system-level software and implemented broadcast protocols. Syed also worked as a Software Analyst at Misys Healthcare Systems in 2000, where they played a key role in porting a software suite to a new architecture. Additionally, they worked as a Software Engineer at AmSoft Information Services from 1998 to 2000, where they pioneered the design and implementation of a wireless logistics software.
