Sanjay Narayanan is an experienced data engineering professional with a robust background in developing and optimizing data infrastructure and pipeline solutions. Currently serving as a Founding Engineer at Magpie Literacy, responsibilities include data infrastructure, processing, governance, machine learning, and pipeline optimization. Previous roles include Data Platform Engineer at Lumin Digital, where efforts focused on expanding real-time data pipelines and maintaining data service security, and Data Engineer at AgentSync, where infrastructure was rebuilt and a data lake architecture was created. Sanjay also contributed to Chegg Inc. as a Data Engineer, enhancing microservices for data warehouses, and as a Summer Associate at The NPD Group, optimizing ETL processes. A research assistant at the Human Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, Sanjay holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Decision Science with a minor in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University.

We are on a mission to unlock the great reader in every child to end illiteracy in our country -- centering the experiences of Black, Latino, and Native American students and students experiencing poverty. We are developing research-based, identity-affirming PK-8+ digital literacy tools that leverage student uniquenesses to help every child master the foundational reading skills needed to become strong, confident readers. We’re currently hiring our founding team of mission-driven individuals committed to helping us develop a scalable, impactful reading product that helps us eradicate illiteracy in America.
