Mohamed Gaffoor has over 20 years of experience in the medical field. Mohamed began their career as a Pediatric Resident at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in 2000 and then went on to complete a Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center from 2003 to 2006.
In 2006, Gaffoor joined Maimonides Medical Center as a Pediatric Intensivist. Mohamed later assumed the role of Division Director for Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in April 2011. During their time at Maimonides, they also served as the Director of Medical Informatics for Maimonides Infants and Children's Hospital, starting in 2010. Additionally, Gaffoor worked as a Physician Consultant in Management Information Systems (MIS) from 2009 until January 2022.

Mohamed Gaffoor obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School, where they studied from 1996 to 2000. Prior to this, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between 1992 and 1996. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained Board Certification in Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics in 2004 and Board Certification in Pediatric Critical Care, also from the American Board of Pediatrics, in 2006. Mohamed later received the certification of Board Certified in Clinical Informatics from the American Board of Preventative Medicine in January 2013.
