Derek L. Miller

Derek L. Miller is an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Manager currently working at Maine Drilling & Blasting since February 2023. Previously, Derek served as a Regional Safety Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) from March 2019 to November 2022, where responsibilities included leading global safety initiatives for multiple data centers and training operational staff on safety protocols. Prior experience includes a role as Occupational Health Safety Manager and Safety Supervisor at WGL between December 2014 and March 2019, where Derek developed safety programs and analyzed safety data. Earlier in Derek's career, from June 2002 to September 2015, an extensive tenure was spent as a Safety Manager in the United States Air Force, conducting safety training and maintaining compliance documentation. Educational achievements include a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Sciences from West Virginia University, as well as two Associate degrees from the Community College of the Air Force in Occupational Safety and Health Technology and Aeronautics.
