Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance
Ruth Kermish-Allen serves as the Executive Director of the Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance since November 2014, focusing on strategic planning, grant writing, and the advancement of STEM education with a specialization in community-based environmental learning. Prior experience includes a role as Conservation Psychology Fellow and CPI Faculty at Antioch University New England, where facilitation and educational coordination for the Conservation Psychology Institute were key responsibilities. As Education Director at the Island Institute, Ruth secured over $7 million in federal grants for environmental STEM education projects. Previous teaching positions include roles as a high school Science and Math Teacher and Earth Science Teacher, as well as an adjunct professor at Unity College. Ruth holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England and multiple degrees in education from the University of Maine and Ramapo College of New Jersey.
