Jouni Kallunki

Jouni Kallunki has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Jouni began their career as a Research Fellow at Helsinki University of Technology, where they conducted post-doctoral research in Applied physics with a focus on paper properties. After that, they worked as a System Developer at Numos Oy and later as a Risk Management Specialist at Suomen Asiakastieto Oy, specializing in statistical modeling for credit risk management.

In 2006, Jouni joined Xtract Oy as a Senior Data Analyst, where they focused on data mining and statistical modeling, particularly in the field of customer analytics. Jouni then moved on to Numos Oy as a Senior Analytics Developer, before joining Nokia as a Senior Data Scientist. At Nokia, Jouni was involved in tasks such as data cleaning and processing, statistical modeling, and real-time analytics using Hadoop cluster technology.

In 2012, Jouni joined Reaktor Innovations as the Chief Data Scientist, where they played a key role in building high-quality digital services for clients in various industries. Jouni brought their expertise in machine learning and statistical analysis to the team and emphasized the importance of formulating business questions that could be answered through mathematical models. Jouni also explored how machine learning assistance could enhance the user experience.

From 2015 to 2018, Jouni worked as a Data Science Partner at Reaktor Ventures, where they coached startups in the organization's portfolio. Jouni helped these startups utilize data for their businesses, providing guidance in machine learning and analytics.

Most recently, in 2018, Jouni joined F-Secure Corporation as a Senior Manager, Data Science. In this role, they oversaw the company's data science efforts and played a crucial role in leveraging data for strategic decision-making.

Currently, Jouni Kallunki holds the position of Head of Analytics at Mainframe Industries, starting in October 2020.

Jouni Kallunki earned a Master of Science degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Helsinki in 1999. Jouni then went on to complete their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2003.
